This building is an abandoned Kmart, which has plans to become Redland's new Police Department. The current as-builts are not accurate since there were multiple T.I.'s during its time as a Kmart. Becoming a police station requires a structural upgrade, so Scan to BIM was a perfect solution. It took 2 days to scan the exterior, roof, interior, and all ceiling spaces. Then it took 1 week to compile all scans and produce a point cloud. An Architectural and Structural Revit model was produced which took roughly 3 weeks. This included a very detailed structural system including foundations based on the as-built drawings.
